BECAUSE SAFETY CAN’T WAIT
Every day in Tasmania, women call because they are terrified.
They are making impossible choices. To leave with nothing but the clothes on their backs or to stay silent because they cannot afford the fight for safety and justice.
Justice for Her is an ongoing statewide initiative led by Women’s Legal Service Tasmania that exists to address the issues of gendered violence in Tasmania.
Justice for Her is built on three principles:
Visibility
Organisations and individuals make public commitments to address gendered violence.
Accountability
Pledges are measurable and confirmed annually.
Transparency
Funds raised and actions delivered are publicly reported.
We cannot do this alone.
Ending family violence within a generation is possible – but it will take all of us.
We are asking you to make a pledge and help us address gendered violence.
What your support makes possible
Financial support through the Justice for Her Pledge helps remove the barriers that prevent women from reaching safety.
Your contribution can mean:
changing locks and securing a home
safe transport to court and legal appointments
childcare so women can engage with the legal system
support when crisis accommodation is unavailable
legal advice and representation
protection for children at risk
Why this matters in Tasmania
Family violence is Tasmania’s most significant safety issue for women and children.
Women and children are often left exposed even after they have taken the courageous step to seek help because systems are stretched, complex and under-resourced.

Tangible, urgent, life-saving action.
It brings together individuals, businesses and organisations.
The pledge combines financial support for immediate safety needs with practical commitments that strengthen responses to family violence over time.

I’m an individual
Gendered violence is not only a systems issue. It is a cultural one.
Individual pledges recognise that culture is shaped every day in conversations, friendships, workplaces, sporting clubs and online spaces.
I’m representing a Not-for-Profit
Gendered violence requires a whole-of-community response.
Legal services alone cannot ensure safety.
Housing services alone cannot ensure safety.
Health services alone cannot ensure safety.
But together, coordinated, connected and accountable, we can move women from crisis to stability faster.
I’m representing an organisation
Workplaces can be places of stability or places of risk for women experiencing violence.
Organisational pledges focus on paid family and domestic violence leave, flexible work, safe disclosure pathways, trauma-informed policies and leadership accountability. It also includes not requiring or suggesting that non-disclosure agreements form part of a negotiated settlement claim for sexual harassment or other forms of workplace discrimination.

Dinner for Change brings the community together to hear directly from lived experience, raise funds for urgent safety and legal needs and to publicly activate pledges
The dinner is a catalyst. The pledge continues year-round.
